During the Microsoft E3 2007 Keynote it was confirmed that Gears of War is coming for the PC, like we heard earlier this week. It will support Microsoft’s new “Games for Windows” software.

Here is a quick recap of what was revealed at the keynote, more information to follow soon as we get it this week.

  • Five new single player levels
  • Game editor. (Mods here we come!)
  • Co-Op is included for Windows.
  • Brumak!!

At the end of the presentation Cliff Bleszinski confirmed that both Windows XP and Windows Vista will run Gears of War, while the Vista version will feature Games for Windows Live support.

Gears of War for… PC?

Posted by Patrick McCarron in Gears of War News

Maybe Microsoft does have some E3 news for Gears of War planned. It appears due to a slip-up at GameVideos.com a video showing new Gears of War content has leaked. In the montage video you can see a boss battle with the Brumak as well as some new multiplayer maps.

The interesting thing is that when the video was live on the site, it was labeled with the title of “Gears of War PC Montage.” Does this mean there is actually a PC version of Gears of War that looks as polished as this? It’s looks like it. While the HUD still displays the Xbox button images, which could mean they were playing with the Xbox 360 Controllers or the game is still an early build. But the achievement unlocked looks more like Live for Windows.

So I’m pretty sure this is accurate leak just ahead of E3. Look for us to provide more Gears of War PC news first hand from us during E3.

Gears of Die Hard

Posted by Patrick McCarron in Gears of War News

This weekend Live Free or Die Hard made it’s debut. Along with it was a great cameo that was almost impossible to miss.

During two scenes you got to see our favorite game, Gears of War. Early in the film you see a soon-to-be deceased hacker’s roommate playing the game for about a minute. The game gets a lot of screen time and includes a few good bloody battle shots. Actually more bloody than most the movie is (due to PG-13 rating).

And then later in the film you see that Warlock has the game’s main menu on one of his basement “command center’s” many TVs. Warlock is a cyber-expert who lives in his mom’s basement. He is played perfectly by writer/director/comedic god Kevin Smith.

I say everyone should go out and see the movie, it exceeded my expectations. While different than the other Die Hards, it still fits in among them as one of the better ones.
